STRAIGHT TO SPACE (S2S) INITIATIVE

Colorado Aerospace companies stand on the shoulders of their workforce to deliver innovation. The Straight to Space program has been established to develop opportunities for individuals interested and capable of contributing to our Aerospace industry, but not currently on a track for a 4 year College degree. We have found that the right people, coupled with the right e-Space companies, can result in successful on-the-job training programs that bring a candidate "Straight to Space".

Candidates for the program include recent high school graduates, individuals in technical schools and colleges, individuals displaced from non-aerospace industries, and other individuals that might have a passion and predisposition to contribute to Space.

We are committed to developing a diverse, talented, workforce through the S2S program, and therefore emphasize populations currently under-represented in aerospace.

The program is designed to place candidates directly into aerospace positions in Entrepreneurial Space companies. The selected candidates receive immediate on-the-job training provided by co-worker/trainers that are funded in part by grants provided bythe Center for Space Entrepreneurship (eSpace). These grants are supported through the Colorado WIRED initiative.

Training grants to the participating e-Space companies are available on a graduated scale that ranges from $1,000 to $4,000 per individual. The larger grants are provided for individuals with lesser experience in the workforce, or in the specific role, smaller grants being provided for individuals with a high level of existing experience in a related field or role.

Positions supported by S2S grants can include:

  • · Aerospace manufacturing technicians
  • · Aerospace test technicians
  • · Aerospace document control adminstrators
  • · Aerospace quality inspectors
  • · Aerospace supply chain/procurement positions
  • · Aerospace process control roles
  • · Aerospace program management support roles
